Going outside for 45 min a day

In December, deep in the middle of our busy season, I busted my left shoulder lifting something wrong, and kept reinjuring it and was never able to let it heal. I was just always yearning for some vacation time to not lift heavy things all day long, and I definitely got what I wished for. I haven’t been this sedentary in years, and it got so bad that last week, I hurt my entire back somehow while folding laundry????

The 50ft leash I bought for Rosie finally arrived from Amazon last week. I got the idea from one of her friends, who always goes on his walks with something similar. Even though she already loves the fact that neither of us ever leave and she never has to be nervous. But it broke my heart when we’d run into her old playmates on walks, just seeing how overly excited she is. Now her afternoon walk, we spend in the park with her extra long leash, so she’s free to zoomie like crazy after she poops. We’re also working on her recall in the park, and she runs a few laps, samples all of Forest Park’s finest spring grass offerings. The weather has been perfect for mild outdoor activity.

It’s doing wonders for our morale to just walk around under the sun and watch Rosie bounce toward us with glee when she hears us call her name. I even find more energy to cook dinner after our little excursions.

I also got my birthday present, an indoor bike trainer for the bike I haven’t touched in years! I used it for 5 minutes before my butt hurt so much I couldn’t sit anymore. I had to figure out how to pump my tires again and adjust all the knobs. It was shameful how little I remembered about bike care. One of these days I’d like to get out there with my bike again, and at least ride through Forest Park once in the four years we’ve lived next door to it…
